Kelly takes a look around the Fenton Shepherd Hut
Kelly Describes Her Visit To The Fenton Shepherd Hut This May
Kelly manages our website and social media and is always happy to spend some time with one of our creations. This month she was out taking pictures of a new product to be launched soon and couldn’t resist spending some time in the Fenton Shepherd Hut while she was there.
There’s no way when you spend time at the Shepherd Huts that you don’t start to relax and unwind, in fact I very often don’t want to leave!
I’m often left with a very strong sense of happiness which makes me grin like a fool as you can see in the picture opposite!
I can not quite put my finger on what it is that gives you this sense of peace but I’m beginning to think it’s the way in which the Huts are built.
When I visited the workshop a few weeks ago I was aware of a sense of calm, a methodical approach to gently easing each piece of wood into its new shape, a knowledge that it can’t be forced but needs gently persuading to do the carpenters bidding. I wonder if this calm and relaxed approach has seeped into the wood itself and now slowly permeates those who visit. Whatever it is, I’m happy to experience more!
Being spring at last, the sun and signs of new life added to the Huts aesthetic appeal, with delicate shadows creating beautiful patterns across the now silvery cladding. The warmth of the day gently heated the hut, which was very different from my winter visits, where the efficient little log burner produced more than enough heat and we were quick to remove our outer layers and enjoy the dry warmth of the fire.
On this day even my side kick, one year old puppy, was happy to chill and enjoy the atmosphere. I’m not sure he was aware of the level of craftsmanship he was surrounded by but he, as I, was very happy with a well spent afternoon.
We decided to try to capture some of our delight by creating this short video to show the Fenton in all it’s Spring glory. You might prefer to see it in real life where you’ll be able to enjoy the detail much more thoroughly than can be show on a mere iphone, in which case contact Jake who will be happy to give you a tour.
