Shepherd hut with no wheels!
Nestled on a hillside over looking Wadebridge, sits this beautiful hand made Shepherd Hut, with no wheels. Designed and built specifically to suit the owners requirements the Shepherd hut houses a double bed, storage, kitchenette, seating area and woodburner. The reason this shepherd hut has no wheels is simple, it fitted better without! It literally nestles into the sloping garden providing the perfect view across the valley and avoids being seen by passers by from above.
The garden is set in a very densely populated housing estate and therefore it would not have been possible to bring the hut in fully complete and crane it into place. A plan was drawn up to build the shepherd hut by hand in our Timeless Spaces workshop, dismantle and rebuild on site.
“The ground work was complicated. I wasn’t sure where placement might be possible and I had a clear idea of what I wanted to achieve. All these things needed to be taken in to consideration. I sat with Jake and we talked about the design and the whole process from start to finish. The Shepherd Hut plans which Jake drew up were exactly what I wanted.
It’s extraordinary, most things you plan don’t turn out exactly as you imagined them but this has!” Bridget Clarence-Smith, Shepherd Hut Owner, Wadebridge
The choice to not add wheels is an aesthetic one. The shepherd hut literally nestles into the hillside, surrounded by landscaped gardens. Looking at it now, it looks as though its always been there and has become part of everyday life for owner Bridget, who has enjoyed the entire process.
“Everyone that’s been here has just been so nice, every one of them has been such a pleasure to work with. Communication was fantastic right the way through and we are delighted with the results.
Our hut is a tranquil place to relax and enjoy the view, and we enjoy it all the time! We are looking forward to the family coming to visit and sleeping in here.
I couldn’t be happier.”
